Most Inventive BBQ Award

The beauty of BBQs is that underneath all of the new-fangled add-ons we see today, they are still such simple machines. This means that you can turn any number of everyday items into your own meat master.

I’ve seen BBQs made out of beer kegs, flower pots, car wheels and roof guttering. But this week’s “Most Inventive BBQ” award goes to these people in Laos who made theirs out of a US missile casing dating back to the Vietnam War. Very cool.

You know how they say: “When you get lemons, make lemonade”? Well apparently in Laos the saying goes, “When you get bombed, make a BBQ!”

What do you think? What’s the most inventive BBQ you’ve seen? What every day item would you like to make a BBQ out of? Leave your comments below.

I love BBQ cooking and decided to follow my interest and open an online BBQ superstore after much research revealed how difficult it was to find good quality, australian made BBQs. At we specialise in Australian made BBQs, wood fired pizza ovens and outdoor kitchens. We strive wherever possible to provide high quality Australian made products.
